Santa Barbara Rooftop Wedding

There is an old saying that rain on your wedding day means you will have a strong marriage since a wet knot is harder to untie. But, not even the rain could bring this sweet, Texan couple down on their big-day!  These college sweethearts knew exactly how they envisioned their big day and it included lots of lovely oranges and coral hues (They went to UT Austin... Can you tell?). The ceremony took place at the amazing Santa Barbara Courthouse, and the rooftop at the Canary Hotel was the perfect location for this modern celebration.

The beautiful bride, Amy, walked down the aisle with a simple, yet classy J Crew dress and an unbreakable smile. I love the lovely Petit Four wedding cake, the cute "ombre" bridesmaid dresses, the date sewn in blue in the wedding dress lining and the umbrellas - although these were not in the original plan, they ended up being a fashion statement instead of a burden. And the first glance moment on the stairs... adorable!  Chelsea Elizabeth sure did an amazing job capturing this occasion and the entire unforgettable day perfectly.

As a result of the rain, they had to add clear tent which actually made the reception very intimate and cozy while still surrounded with all of the beautiful views of rooftop. Imagine the rain hitting the clear top with the intense blue sky blanketed around. I'm sure it was a very magic and romantic night.
A fun and carefree afternoon at the Canary rooftop was the perfect set-up for a romantic day-after shot.

Frames As Props Wedding Ideas

Our Wedding Wednesday just wouldn’t be complete without a pretty, little, real wedding added to the mix. And this beauty by Carrie Wildes Photography in the gorgeous beaches of Florida is just the perfect one!  It is romantic, casual and totally cute in every single way.  I love the fun frames, the lovely ceremony decor and obviously, the color palette - you know  I'm a sucker of purple hues. But, beyond all it's darling details, this sandy celebration is like the 101 on using frames as props for wedding portraits. Enjoy!

From the photographer...It rained all day and Candice had to decide at 5:00pm to have the wedding inside instead of out on the beach.  Literally at 4:58pm the rain stopped and it turned out to be the most beautiful evening for their wedding.  The sunlight was muted slightly behind the clouds and was absolutely my dream lighting.  Mike is from South Africa and they had family and friends come all the way from there and many other places to celebrate with them. His grandparents couldn't make the trek so they live streamed their reception so they could enjoy in thousands of miles away. Candice and Mike I hope you are enjoying Tahiti it was such a pleasure to work with you and your families, congrats!

An Intimate DIY Destination Wedding with Whimsical Details

This intimate, hand crafted destination wedding is the perfect way to start your week. Not only is it original in its design and execution, it’s budget friendly too!  This smart and sassy bride bought fresh blooms at the local market the day before the wedding and arranged them herself. The result? Drop dead gorgeous! Not to mention the precious whimsical color palette and the dreamy images from Mark Martinez Photography that only enhance the sweet charm of this California beauty.

From the Bride, Karen.... "From the beginning, planning our wedding seemed to be a near impossible task. My husband and I currently live in The Netherlands. He is Dutch and I'm American (originally from California). After he asked me to marry him, we had to first decide where to get married. After a few months of discussion we finally decided on California. He liked the idea of a wedding on the beach, which isn't really possibly here with restrictions and the weather) and I liked the idea of having a traditional American ceremony. Of course this meant that we would have to plan the whole thing from 6,000 miles away. Not an easy task! We decided the best thing to do was keep it simple, intimate and relaxed. We wanted a simple, whimsical, and colorful environment in which to celebrate our marriage. We chose colors that fit the whimsical theme (Aqua and Red) and found fabric to match which my aunt used to make flag banners and table cloths. We bought the flowers the day before the wedding at a local market where they sold locally grown flowers and arranged them ourselves into mason jars and 2nd hand vases the night before. I designed and printed the dessert & beverage table tags while still at home in Holland and brought them with me. I wanted to get as many things 2nd hand as possible (to limit waste as well as to be cost effective) but obviously it was too difficult to get everything 2nd hand or vintage since I live so far away and had to buy some things online. Luckily I had a few friends in California scouting thrift store for things I had in mind for deco, mostly mason jars, platters, vases and dishes and they were able to find quite a few lovely finds, including some beautiful blue Ball mason jars. It looked beautiful and everyone had a blast! Having a small intimate wedding was really the best thing we could have done. It was relaxed, casual and really fun!"

{Real Weddings} Las Vegas Intimate Wedding

This charming Las Vegas wedding is my first submission via Two Bright Lights and I couldn’t be more thrilled. It’s a beautiful intimate event filled with what’s important…LOVE. The images by White Haute Photography are lovely and the story is event better. Keep your ayes open for the inspiration coming and stop by at the bottom of the pics to read the love story.

From the Bride ( photographer Diandra Ann) - Javier and I met at work. I was working on staff at my dad's church, and we merged with Javier's church. Pretty soon he and I were working together with the youth. We were just friends for quite some time... spending our time working together and hanging out with teenagers. After I got out of a really bad relationship, our friendship grew. And it was that friendship that we started our relationship with. After a few months of dating, Javi got orders from the army. He was being deployed to Iraq for a year. In between the weeks of training exercises to get him ready to deploy, he proposed. Javier headed off to Iraq and I began planning a wedding for a few months after he would return home. In the midst of the crazy details and venues and dresses, I had a breakdown. After talking to Javier, we decided to move our wedding up. We would get married when he came home on his R&R. We also decided to go to Vegas. WIth just our family. A kind of mini elopement. So I began planning.
