The Making of a Wedding Dress
I am so excited to share this post with you - I've known about it for months but was waiting for the finished product before writing about it! Meet Therese. She and her husband Dee were married at the end of last month and she is pictured above wearing her mother's wedding dress. She wanted to incorporate the dress into her own wedding and while she loved the tiers, it needed a little updating so that she could make it her own. So, she enlisted the help of seamstress Janet Brunton (all of these pictures were taken in her home) who completely remade the dress.
Being the smart girl that she is, Therese documented the entire process with photos. Above you see everything deconstructed, and this is the structure of the new dress (a sign of great things to come)...
The bodice of the dress utilizes the same lace from her Mother's dress. It is starting to take shape here and in the pictures below you can see all of the lace added to the sweetheart neckline and to the back, and the tiers are also starting to come into play.
The scallop detailing being added to the sweetheart neckline...
And the train...oh the train. I absolutely love it and the four covered buttons in the back really add to the detail of it all.
The finished product! Isn't it amazing? Janet is clearly so talented and this is such a beautiful way to wear your Mother's wedding dress again. I can't even imagine how special this is to Therese and her family.
I just think we need to look at the before and after one more time...
So beautiful! And it doesn't end here - tomorrow I will be sharing the pictures from Therese and Dee's wedding. I promise you that its equally as wonderful. Thank you so much for sharing all of these pictures, Therese!
