Real Wedding Recap: Sara & Hillary (Part One)

Sara and Hillary were married this summer, in a beautiful handmade affair that was essentially created by family. Their wedding was so lovely - and it was also a lesson in patience (and quite the story). I work with Sara at the 'ol day job, and only a few months before their nuptials were scheduled to take place, she sent me an email that their venue was in foreclosure. You can read the entire story on her blog, Indiana Weddings, but the shortened version is that they were left trying to find a new venue and contacting all their guests to notify them of changes with only weeks left before their wedding. Stressful? Unbelievably so. But, lesson learned? The new venue worked beautifully and at the end of the day, they were husband and wife. So remember that even though things will inevitably go awry in your planning process - if, at the end of it all, you said your vows in front of your loved ones, that is all that matters! {As a side note: huge thanks to Monica of Whitebox Weddings and Liene of Blue Orchid for all their help and advice}

There are so many details in these photos that I split the day up into two posts. Don't you love the buttons? Sara made all of them herself - as well as the "button-ieres." Love it! The directional signs were made by Sara's brother, the couple's best friends made the invitations, literally all of Sara's Aunts were involved in the flower arranging (the bouquets were the only things the florist arranged, the rest were bought in bunches). The ceremony musicians were Sara's cousins and very close friends of the family. The officiant was Sara's uncle....when I said it was a family affair I wasn't kidding! All of the photos were taken by Studio This Is and the flowers were provided by Earthly Enchantments.

I think this is the best program I've seen - simple, unique and funny all at the same time:

Since both of Sara's parents walked her down the aisle, Hillary's Mom handed him Sara's bouquet so that he could give it to her as she reached the end of the aisle:

Real Wedding Recap: Therese & Dee

For me, this week is always a time in the year of both reflection and anticipation of new things on the horizon. So as a way to reflect here, I thought it would be fun to take the next few dayd and look back on some of my favorite weddings of 2009. If you've been reading for awhile you will have seen all of these before, but maybe you missed something the first time around that will now be inspiring! I hope you're all having a lovely holiday season and enjoy the look back...

Therese & Dee's wedding stands out to me not only because I helped with her invitations (she is the sweetest girl around) but because of Therese's wedding dress. Its truly the best use of a sentimental dress I've ever seen!

You saw the making of her wedding dress and today I am so happy to share Therese and Dee's wedding with you! The photographers responsible for all these beautiful images are Jamie and Chris of {j a c} photographers. Here are some of the other vendors that made the day come together:

Reception Venue - Hilton Irvine
MakeUp - Makeup by Liz
Flowers - Jazz Flowers
Coordinator - Grand Soirees

The groomsmen were given some adorable argyle socks, fedoras and cigars (I can't think of many guys who wouldnt' be thrilled with that combination).

Therese and Dee went to school at University of California, Irvine so that is where they decided to have their first look before the ceremony.

Aren't they a gorgeous couple? I love this shot from the ceremony - such emotion.

Therese and her coordinator did a great job with so many of the paper products, and yours truly came up with some of the design elements! Therese got in contact with me through the blog and I was so excited to be a part of her planning process.

Notice that the centerpieces are large glass hurricanes filled with water and candles. I am loving the light they add to the room.

Therese changed dresses so that she and Dee could perform a swing dance!

You can see more images from this beautiful wedding on the {j a c} photography blog as well as a slideshow of the day. Congrats, Therese and Dee!

Real Wedding: Hilton Head, South Carolina

Jade McCully is based in Savannah but she recently shot this beautiful wedding in Hilton Head, South Carolina and sent it along to share with all of you! Trisha and Jordan went with a pink and green themed palette, and also incorporated some beach elements. The reception took place at the Westin Hilton Head and the ceremony was located at Holy Family Catholic Church. Congrats to Trish and Jordan!
