{Fabulous Friday} : Royal Wedding Cake

The Royal Wedding CakeThe wedding Royal Wedding cake, designed by Fiona Cairns, was a multi-tiered traditional fruit cake. The cake, which was decorated with cream and white icing, had a strong British floral theme using elements of the Joseph Lambeth technique.

Have a Fabulous Weekend!
See you on Monday with more wedding galore!

Get Kate's Look: Lace Long-Sleeved Wedding Dresses

The Images of the Royal Wedding are all over the place, and everyone is talking about the stunning lace wedding dress designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen that Kate wore for the big day. I really couldn’t think of a more appropriate dress for Kate!  How do you like it?

I remember when I shared this with you "Delicate-looking yet strong, and rich with history, lace is sort of like the bride herself. It covers while revealing, and can add a touch of centuries-gone-by grace to your wedding ensemble. A bride who wears lace pays tribute to a time-honored tradition." So true!

And just a few hours ago I was chatting with my Facebook friends about how I saw a few lace long-sleeved wedding dresses at NYC Bridal Market. Was it a big trend for 2012? I’m not sure. But I know one thing, after the Royal Wedding long-sleeved wedding dresses are going to be everywhere. If you want to get this look, here are a few great options.

Let's begin the lace parade with my favorite three dresses, all of them from Romona Keveza Spring 2012

The following gown is by designer extraordinaire, Oscar de la Renta. It belongs to his Spring 2012 Collection
Do you recognize this dress? I shared with you last week and I told you it remained me of my mother's wedding dress. It belongs to Monique Lhuillier Spring 2012 Bridal Collection.
Let me wrap up the lace parade with a not-so-long-sleeved laced dress by the always-talented, Carolina Herrera.

Thank You and a French Milk Canister

Hello Everyone...
I hope you are enjoying your Friday!

Holly is also the author of the design book, Decorate!
I have ordered my book, and can't wait to get a copy in the mail.

On another note....
I wanted to share a few pictures I took of an antique french milk canister for my online shop.

I haven't ever had blooming dogwood branches before....
Aimee from the Antique Gardener ( you can read my post about her shop by clicking here) called me yesterday and told me that I could come and get some dogwood branches from her....

Aimee's shop is always filled with beautiful plants....

I unfortunately snapped these pictures at 6 o'clock in the evening...
when the sun was streaming in... so the pictures are overexposed...

I wanted to take more pictures this morning...

That won't be happening,
unfortunately they are very droopy at the moment...

I like how this antique jug looks sitting next to this alabaster lamp...

My parents had a small dairy when we were little kids...

I am always drawn to milk canisters!  Especially if they are french and this pretty blue color.

I wanted to share a few of my favorite blogs, I think you will enjoy reading over the weekend.

I hope you get a chance to check these blogs out, these blogs are full of inspiration.

I hope you all enjoy your weekend!
I am so excited because I do get to go to Remnants of the Past...
I can hardly wait.
I promise to take a lot of pictures for you guys.
Take Care,
Maria

p.s. I wanted to say Happy Birthday to my sweet sister, Monica,
she turns 39 today.  : )

Modern Fairy Tale Princess Wedding Dresses - Part 1

William’s and Kate’s Royal Wedding has being called “A Modern Fairy Tale”. But, most brides I know are wary of fairy tales and princesses, at least traditional ones. Ever since Diana, the dream of wearing a tiara has been kind of tarnished.
But Kate Middleton might make being a princess cool again. Unlike Diana, who was plucked from her already privileged life, Miss Middleton, a commoner (who looks uncommonly good in a bikini), has not been passive. She has worked for her fairy tale, which makes it more of a fairy tale.
In case the Royal Wedding event encouraged you to be a princess for a day, I have the perfect bridal gowns for a Modern Fairy Tale Princess, Disney Fairy Tale Weddings by Alfred Angelo. They have dresses for every kind of bride and every single gown has been inspired by each one of the legendary Disney Princesses.

Cinderella's gown radiates with sparkle as its inspiration is the fairy tale's enchanted glass slipper.
Aurora/Sleeping Beauty's gown is romantic with a dreamy, willowy skirt for this slumbering princess.

Snow White's dress (my favorite) is inspired by nature, beauty and grace like the Disney Princess character herself.

The treasures of the sea inspired Ariel's gown. The mermaid silhouette features re-embroidered lace, pearl beading, and sequin sparkles.
Jasmine's wedding dress conveys freedom and individuality and as a result her shimmering soft satin gown is exotic with a bejeweled neckline and low cut back.

Belle's wedding dress, with a draped waistline is inspired by the iconic ballroom dance scene from the film and focuses on making a grand entrance. The regal, one-shoulder taffeta gown for our newest princess, Tiana, reflects her independent spirit with an asymmetric bodice and ruched skirt.
Sneak peek footage of the gowns can be seen in this behind the scenes video.

Dress of the Week

A French Fruit Crate and Remnants of the Past

Hello Everyone,
I hope you all had a great Easter.
I wanted to share a few pictures I took of a vintage french fruit crate for my online shop.
I took these about a month ago....
Sorry for the repeat of product pictures using lilacs, but that is what I had at the moment, and used them for about every product picture I took that weekend.
I no longer have these racks available on my site,
I just wanted to share an idea of how you can add some french farmhouse life to a dining room table.

I actually used a similar crate as a drying rack in my kitchen... I was already using french fruit crates as  drying racks for my monogrammed mugs and ironstone dishes in my kitchen.....
I decided to show a way to use the crate housing dishes in a more decorative way on my dining room table... I tried to keep a french farmhouse feel in the process.

I first added a french canning jar filled with lilacs... Next I added a stack of ironstone plates to the crate.....

I added a stash of antique letters from France.....

The racks are lined with chicken wire...

I like how the Anthropologie monogrammed mugs look against the chicken wire and wood.

This is a quick way to add some french farmhouse life to a dining room table...

On a completely different note....

The show is this Saturday, April 30th, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
at The Dana-Powers House Property 535 Mehlschau in Nipomo, CA
The fall show was just featured in the April issue of Country Living....

Daniela and Eric, owners of Euro-Linens will be vendors at the show.....
Their booth at the show was featured in the April issue of Country Living...

Trinidad, Johan, and Martin, from Atelier de Campagne will also be vendors at the show...

(I still have a post coming about their container sale, I promise I will post about it very soon)

There are a lot of other great vendors on the list as well...
Judy has a blog where you can read all about the vendors that will be at the show....
you can read more about the show by clicking here..

Will you be going to the show???

Thank you for taking the time to stop by...
I hope you all have a great week!
Take Care,
Maria
